Face it - A.Net is a company like any other who will screw it's customers to make a profit!
And there is nothing wrong with that! (Well UNLESS you're the customer but seriously ....)
If you screw your customers, they won't come back and then you have nothing.
Do you really think ANET is actively trying to lose customers?

The question is - who feels that GWEN was worth the 40€ if C1-3 were 50? Or 30€ as C2-3 were here?
See - those people are getting screwed and they don't even know it!
But when we start to bitch just a tiny bit too much ... poof ... here is a new mini!

(Btw - screwing a customer doesn't mean only kicking them in the nuts so hard that they fall off, it's also giving them less then they expect or are used to!)

I've had more fun playing GWEN than I did Factions and Nightfall put together (and I had fun playing Factions and Nightfall, mind you). Between the unbelievable number of side quests, the multitude of dungeons, and the short but repeatable main story missions I've also been playing it longer than Factions or Nightfall (whose uninspired side quests didn't attract much attention, causing me to just blow through the relatively brief main story missions). Add in some of the best armors in the game (reskins or not, show me a cooler looking armor set than female monument necro), lots of green hunting, and a handful of interesting new skills and what's to complain about? I'm sorry, but I can't remotely bring myself to feel "ripped off," nor can I understand people that say they were.

Ahh, Upier, you are just one of the many that claim big business is out to get you personally. Unless you live in the woods and make your own food and drink, then you are just as much a part of the "system" you are targeting.

Please grow up, there are many adults here that actually have grown up things to discuss.

OP, simply said, there are many things in life people don't like, and those who buy them end up losing money. Companies who "offer up" like EVGAs Step Up program, are rare, and are often done to make the company more money (aka, EVGA can make more money by buying back 2 month old graphics cards and then keep a customer while selling a more recent/upgraded one) anyways.

I am sorry you don't like GWEN, but complaining about your price is absurd. I would love to save more money on gas, and I spent 30 yesterday on a tank but today it would only be 27, WTF? Too bad there is nothing I can do except find a Delorean and get it to run of of trash. Ah well.

Not personally of course not!
Everyone on the hand ...

I mean you open a business to sell a product. If you sell the product by the price that it was made for - there is no point in selling the product. One gained nothing.
So the price needs to be higher. Not good for the customers but good for the producer.
Thus one is screwing the customers by default!

C2 and C3 were here sold for the same price as GWEN when they launched.
Two are full standalone games - one is an expansion.
Now you do the match.

Now - don't get me wrong - IF I were to ever have my OWN company - I'd do the same!
Why?
Because I'd want to get rich!
Money, money, money! Come to papa!
I don't have a problem with that! My problem is with people who will look at A.Net with love in their eyes and think this isn't happening!
Because A.Net is different!
Come on! If they were different - they'd be out of business!

They are not screwing the customer by default. They are offering them something that was not there before, therefore, you have gained something. You didn't have to buy it, you chose to. You took the risk and didn't personally find the reward. Others did. Maybe you can learn something from it by not jumping in with both feet the minute something is released. Wait for a review and see if it offers what you like. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm more disappointed at the lack of content, how it seems half done, half realized. So many recycled armor skins, there are only about 3 complete dungeons worth of design, the rest is just the same rooms rearranged. Disappointed at the product and the development. Was hoping for more.
ditto, except I'm 41

Gonna second that. I wish the release date was farther down.

When you mark up an item for sale(unless it is terribly excessive) you don't do it to screw people, it is called making a profit which is what keeps companies in business.

I bought GW:EN preview, enjoyed the missions, bought the real game and got the BMP at the same time. It was great and the weapons in the BMP were worth it. PLus i was one of the early birds to do the HoS CR, getting lots of cool things to sell and making a nice cool profit. Who is the winner? I think its me... There are also lots of more players playing the game then then now. So itll be harder to do missions

That's not it. The bottom line is that ANet built a reputation with the last 3 campaigns and people expected the same (whether it'd be new original armors, more dungeons, bigger story line, more storage or char slots, etc. you name it), but they abused that reputation to deliver a half decent product as soon as possible in order to make profit. People feel ANet has abused their trust in them and when they put down $40 for a game, they expected more (based on the previous experience with their games).

Then its their own fault for assuming, even when Anet never promised it would be like another campaign. I don't personally understand whats so hard to understand about that.

Whether or not it is good is one thing, which is not really the debate here because every game has lovers and haters. Even Half Life (Blasphemy!), but what we assume hurts us more than reality. You know what happens when we assume.
